Scotsburn Campus

Like all mainstream schools in Victoria, our curriculum is based on the Victorian Curriculum.  We work hard to ensure that our curriculum is delivered in a meaningful and relevant way, which captures the interest of all students and is personalised to meet their needs.  Coverage of all learning areas is important, with an emphasis on the core areas of English and Mathematics – a 120 minute and 90 minute block is devoted to these subjects respectively each day.  On a typical day classes will focus on Literacy from 9-11am and Numeracy from 11:30am -1pm.

Throughout their time at primary school students will study Humanities, Geography, History and Economics to investigate how these areas have shaped the world we live in today. In addition to our learning areas there is a major focus on developing core capabilities, which will help students become independent, critical and creative thinkers.

Class sizes play an important part in choosing the right primary school for your child.  The larger the class, the higher the likelihood of distractions and the less time the teacher has for each individual student.  Maintaining smaller class sizes allows the focus to be on supporting the learning needs of all students and tracking the growth of students throughout every year.

We have an average of slightly more than 20 per class across the 3 classes at Scotsburn. Aligned with small class sizes, is the importance we place on ensuring that the staff we choose are caring and dedicated.  We have invested much time and effort to ensure we choose and retain the best quality teachers for our students.
